Today, Jen, a NYC bartender and now Cocktail Consultant on the show teaches me how to make a good Margarita. And let me tell you, as someone who hates tequila, this was the best margarita BY FAR I ever had. Jen shows us some tricks, like tattooing a lime for cool garnishes and then shows me how to make the classic margarita, one that is balanced and incredibly drinkable. Now I crave one all the time.
INGREDIENTS:
2 oz. Blanco Tequila, I prefer Casamigos
3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
1/2 oz. Cointreau
1/4 oz. simple syrup
Diamond Kosher salt, Coarse
Chilled Cocktail Glasses
DIRECTIONS:
First prep your glasses. Use the butt of a lime to tap on the side of one side of the cocktail glass. Then dip that into a bowl with some salt. Try not to get salt into the glass. You don’t want the salt to alter the drink.
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, add 4-5 cubes of ice, seal your tins, and shake hard and fast for 10-15 seconds. You want the ice to break, the dilution in the stage is actually acting as an ingredient in the drink. Strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wedge. Serve immediately.
